The Varese was an italian cargo ship. It was built in 1870 as a double mast steamer. It transported phosphorus materials on the route Venice – Tunis. A strong Bora in January 1915 made the captain change his plan and reach the port of Pula for safety. But the Varese entered a mine field, lost the bow in a huge explosion and sunk quickly. Nowadays the wreck lies in a maximum depth of 41 m, with a length of 65 m. It is well conserved and offers plenty of penetration possibilities. You may encounter big scorpionfish, eels and schools of different kind of fish.
